Cancer Sucks/Week 29

Happy 2016! I hope that everyone’s 2016 is off to a good start.

This week, there has been a lot of cancer in the media and unfortunately a few famous deaths as a result of cancer. I have a friend currently fighting. My family was just made aware of someone who has just been diagnosed. Cancer sucks. Everyday lives are changed by the awful news of cancer. If the news of these deaths hit hard for you this week, or if you know someone fighting cancer that is weighing on you, I have some general insight that I have to offer:

  • Do not make someones cancer journey/diagnosis about you.
  • Be present as continuously as you can. Show up and be there for them.
  • Pray, encourage, laugh and cry with them.

For more insight, check out my post about What Not to Say to a Cancer Patient.

I am pretty sick and tired of being sick and tired.

I don’t remember what it’s like to not feel these things.

Tonight, I finished week 29 of my maintenance phase of chemo/interferon. I have been dealing with a fever this week which hasn’t been pleasant on top of all the other side effects.

But I’m not giving up.

If you’re currently fighting: know that cancer will scar you and hurt you but don’t let it kill who you are. Life is tough but so are you.

I’m still determined and still fighting everyday.

Thank You, Lord.

Love,

  1. You are an inspiration to me. You are courageous and you are a fighter. Keep up the good work no matter how tough it seems to be. I think of you everyday. Hugs
