For many people, the Christmas season acts as a magnifier.

When things are good in your life, Christmas will magnify that goodness that you feel. Good job. Good family. Good partner. Good home.

But the Christmas season also magnifies the bad. Financial stress. A failed relationship. Another Christmas without a partner. Without a child. Without a family member.

Christmas can actually tend to be a lonely time for a lot of people. There have been years when it has been for me. My challenge this year is to open my eyes to those who are hurting in this season and to mourn with them and to celebrate with those who are rejoicing this season.

Good or bad, Christmas magnifies. If you look around and see things that are broken, or missing, or things that feel out of place, may you know that hope is real, help is real, and the best is certainly yet to come.
